Turkesterone

Turkesterone

What is it?
Turkesterone is an ecdysteroid. Ecdysteroids are arthropod steroid hormones that are commonly found in arthropods and insects, but may also be found in certain plant species.

Examples of ecdysteroids include ecdysone, ecdysterone, turkesterone and 2-deoxyecdysone.

What are the benefits?

There has only been a small number of studies done so far, however the results have been encouraging.

These studies have indicated Turkesterone may help promote lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, improve protein synthesis, aid muscle hypertrophy & increase strength.

Turkesterone may act as an agonist for receptors prompting anabolic and adaptogenic responses. While the effects on the lipid and carbohydrate metabolism may assist with fat loss and body compostion.

It needs to be noted that these initial studies have been conducted on animals only. So it is still to be determined if these effects are also going to be experienced in humans.

How and when do I take it?
Turkesterone comes in a capsule form taken orally. There is no data on the optimal time to take it. Most supplement companies are recommending a splitting the total daily dose into 2 seperate doses morning and night.

Effective Dose
The effect dose in humans is still uncertain and more studies would need to be done to determine the best effective dose.

There was a study carried out on humans with a dose of 800mg consumed per day for 10 weeks. This study reported an increase in muscle hypertrophy and strength. With the participants gaining an average of 3.2kg of lean muscle mass.

Most supplement brands are recommending a dose of between 500mg - 1000mg daily.

Due to lack of further studies is it however recommended to stick to a safe dose of 10mg of Turkesterone per kilo of body weight per day.
